Construction
Dress & Petticoat
The Usagi of Oz dress consists of a princess seam bodice, full circle skirt, and petticoat. All patterns were self-drafted.
The bodice was drafted as a strapless bodice with white piping and lace trim used for accents. Straps were created from long strips of fabric with piping at the edges.
The petticoat consists of two layers of gathered tulle sewn on lining fabric with an elastic waist.
Shoes
Thrifted red pumps were used as the shoe base. The shoes were painted with two layers of a glitter and Mod Podge mixture.
Thoughts
This cosplay is based on the Usagi of Oz character artwork by Mamobot. I love that this design allowed me to reuse my Princess Serenity wig, which saved time and money. Since I also happened to already have the perfect blue plaid fabric for this dress, I was able to put together this cosplay in about four weeks, making it the fastest cosplay I’ve made so far!
